His various CDs, LPs and 7"s of the late 1990s are firmly enrolled in what Pere Ubu's David Thomas has referred to as "The Brotherhood of the Unknown" that misunderstood and overlooked gang that gather in used record racks in the very worst parts of town. Have a look you might find one yourself.
His novel "Never Hit The Ground" (1996) remains an elusive slice of British neo-noir concerning prize-fighting fish, drug smuggling, cross-dressing Bob Dylan fanatics and a contortionist cat burglar.

A slightly updated version of the Rufus Wainwright book will be published by Orion in April 2010. The new section includes discussion of the opera Prima Donna as well as Loudon's Charlie Poole Project and Martha's Piaf album. The title of the book remains "There Will Be Rainbows: The Biography of Rufus Wainwright" but will now include the subtitle "and the story of Loudon Wainwright and Kate McGarrigle". This is after suggestions from numerous readers and a couple of reviewers who thought it should be made clear that the book covers all of the family. The paperback will also have a new cover which can be seen on Amazon right now. There will also be a paperback edition published by Harper Collins in the USA in June 2010.
Following the success of the Radio Mania film last Spring Kirk is currently working on two new film projects.
